Women’s Advanced/Metastatic Support Group

Pink Lemonade Project and Legacy Salmon Creek have partnered to offer a unique support group for women living with advanced cancer or cancer that has metastasized. This will be a safe and supportive time to share with others who are on a similar path. Learn tools for coping from facilitators, guest speakers, and each other. This support group is for all women with any type of advanced or metastatic cancer. You can choose to attend any or all of the sessions. All support group meetings are held at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center (2211 NE 139th St. Vancouver, WA) on the 3rd floor of the main hospital in rooms 3C&D.

Facilitator

CATHERINE PATTERSON – LCSW, LCIASW, CCM

Catherine has been providing support and resources to patients and their families for 15 + years. Catherine has extensive experience in the field of crisis and trauma. Her interests are oncology, palliative care, and supporting individuals and families during difficult times.

CAROLINE MURPHY – M.DIV., BCC

As a board certified chaplain at Legacy Salmon Creek, Caroline offers interfaith spiritual and emotional support to patients, family, and staff throughout the hospital, with a special emphasis on oncology patients. Caroline is ordained in the United Church of Christ and has a background as a pastor, editor, and translator.

All Women’s Cancer Support Group

Pink Lemonade Project and Compass Oncology have teamed up to offer a support group providing women cancer survivors an opportunity to talk with others who are facing similar challenges in a safe, welcoming environment.

Oncology social workers are present at each group meeting to facilitate the conversation and to answer any questions you may have about physical or emotional issues, treatment side effects, and general coping strategies. This support group is for all women cancer survivors. All support group meetings are held at Compass Oncology in Vancouver (210 SE 136th Ave ~Vancouver) from 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm on the second Monday of each month.

Oncology Social Workers

VIRGINIA HILL – LCSW,LICSW,OSW-C

Virginia has been a licensed clinical social worker for more than 20 years. Her goal is to ease her patients and their families’ journey through challenging times by providing them with both emotional and practical support.

CATHY WEEKS – LCSW

Cathy has been an oncology social worker with OHSU for 5 years in their Community Hematology Oncology Clinics. She has facilitated a number of support groups in the Portland area. Cathy has an interest in palliative care and supporting individuals and families during these difficult times.

Pink Phoenix Dragon Boat Team

Pink Phoenix™ is the United States’ first dragon boat team comprised solely of breast cancer survivors. Its mission is to empower breast cancer survivors through the sport of dragon boating. Its purpose is to demonstrate the quality of life breast cancer survivors can have; to promote wellness, fitness, fun and camaraderie through dragon boating; and to provide social, emotional and spiritual support for breast cancer survivors. The team is based in Portland, OR although it is open to team members from around the region.

Catch-22 Dragon Boat Team

Catch-22 is a dragon boat team that paddles on Vancouver Lake, Vancouver Washington. We welcome and invite our local survivors to come out and experience the benefits of dragon boat paddling. Explore the sisterhood and support that a team of strong survivor athletes shares every time they hit the water for an energizing and healing workout.
